Mobile phone insurance

What's included in my Royal Bank mobile phone insurance?

What does mobile insurance cover offer?

Mobile phone insurance, in simple terms, is a type of insurance that helps with the cost of replacing or repairing your smartphone in the event that it’s damaged, stolen or lost. This can include accidental damage such as dropping your phone, or loss, such as leaving your phone on the bus. It can also cover you for breakdown of the phone after the warranty has expired. Always ensure you read the policy details carefully to find phone insurance that suits your needs and lifestyle.

Does your mobile phone policy cover your family's devices?

For Silver and Platinum account customers, the phone you use on a daily basis is covered, this includes the phone used on a daily basis by a joint account holder. For Black account customers, family cover is included. This means the phone used on a daily basis by you, your partner and/or your children under 18 years old who live at home with you (under 23 years old if they are still in full time education and living at home with you outside term time). Please note, phones owned by your employer are not covered.

How to register for mobile phone insurance

When you open a current account that gives you access to mobile phone insurance, you’re automatically covered. However, you can also choose to register your phone. This will help speed up the process in the event you need to make a claim.

To register your phone:

  1. Visit Membership Services or call us.
  2. Enter the required details of your device. We’ll need the make and model number (iPhone 13 Pro, for example), your phone’s memory size and purchase date.
  3. Tell us the IMEI number. You can usually find your phone’s IMEI number in the ‘About’ or ‘Status’ section of the device settings. Please note we can’t process any claim where you do not provide the IMEI number or the IMEI number you provide is currently recorded as lost or stolen.
  4. We’ll do the rest. You can rest assured that your smartphone is covered for damage, loss or theft.
